Turf Down Pegasus Crossing BHS Access Cornwall Home Page
Newly installed Pegasus Crossing at Turfdown on A38 between Landhydrock and Cardinham south of Bodmin.
The Pegasus is the furthest away crossing
It has now been commissioned
(4 December 2006). We had raised several safety concerns with the Highways Agency
relating to the far side of the crossing where riders are being pushed and directed
far too near the very busy road (quiet for a second when picture was taken).
The Agency and their contractors have now resited the fence and adjust the paths
further away from the road. The far side button is also too near the road but
they have not been able to move that. It is within official guidelines!
It is absolutely brilliant to have at least one safe crossing in Cornwall.
We petitioned hard to get it and the effort of all is appreciated, including the Highways Agency and Contractors who listened to our concerns.
